The only thing that still stands out about Searchmetrics is how much of the internet has not noticed it is gone. Most reviews ranking for this term were written between 2019 and 2022 and still show pricing tiers, trial buttons and a login link for a product that was retired. Its genuine legacy is the Visibility Index, a single trended organic-presence number that became common shorthand in European SEO reporting, and deep non-English SERP coverage across German, French, Italian, Spanish and Nordic markets. That European depth is precisely why Conductor bought it, and it is the part that survived.

What makes Searchmetrics stand out

The only thing that still stands out about Searchmetrics is how much of the internet has not noticed it is gone. Most reviews ranking for this term were written between 2019 and 2022 and still show pricing tiers, trial buttons and a login link for a product that was retired. Its genuine legacy is the Visibility Index, a single trended organic-presence number that became common shorthand in European SEO reporting, and deep non-English SERP coverage across German, French, Italian, Spanish and Nordic markets. Who it's for

  • You inherited a stack document listing Searchmetrics and need to know its current status
  • You are auditing a competitor's tooling and hit a dead brand
  • You were a Searchmetrics customer and want to know where your data and contract went
  • You are shopping for a replacement and want the alternatives ranked by use case, not by vendor budget

Who it's not for

  • You are looking for current Searchmetrics pricing — it does not exist
  • You want a Searchmetrics free trial or login — neither exists
  • You want a normal scored review — a discontinued product cannot honestly be scored

Searchmetrics pricing

Searchmetrics has no pricing because it cannot be purchased. Historically it sold on annual enterprise contracts in the four to five figure range depending on markets, keywords and modules. Conductor, the successor, does not publish pricing either: expect an annual five-figure commitment scaling with markets, keywords, domains and seats, with a three-week trial available for evaluation. Monthly billing is not usually offered. The honest way to judge the cost is consolidation — if it replaces a rank tracker, a crawler, a content tool, an AI visibility tracker and the analyst hours spent stitching them together, the number reads differently than if it replaces one €200/mo subscription.

AI features in Searchmetrics

Where your brand is mentioned and cited across AI answer surfaces, rather than only in classic SERPs.

Volume and tone of AI mentions, plus whether what is being said about you is factually correct. Traditional SEO never had this problem; if an AI answer confidently misstates your pricing, that is a live commercial issue.

Who is being cited instead of you, on which topics.

Query the whole intelligence layer from Claude or ChatGPT directly instead of exporting CSVs. Covered in depth in our Conductor MCP guide.

Core platform features

The single trended organic-presence metric Searchmetrics was known for. Sistrix is the closest live equivalent with its own long-running history.

German, French, Italian, Spanish and Nordic coverage at a depth most US-built tools treated as an afterthought. The reason the acquisition happened.

Conventional organic monitoring, now delivered inside Conductor.

The old Content Experience module, absorbed into Conductor's content workflow.

Conductor exposes a data API alongside the MCP server. The old Searchmetrics endpoints are retired.

Strengths & weaknesses

Strengths

European market depth survived the merger

Conductor is genuinely early on AEO

There is a real MCP server and data API

Enterprise procurement boxes are ticked

Watch out for

The product you searched for does not exist

Historical data continuity is not something to assume

Your old API integrations are silently dead

Conductor has no public pricing and sells annually

AEO measurement is young across every vendor

The MCP specifics are not published

Best Searchmetrics alternatives

  • Sistrix

The closest thing to what you lost. German, its own long-running visibility index with continuous history, priced per module and far below enterprise money. Where most of the DACH market actually went.

  • Ahrefs

If your honest use case is keyword research, competitor analysis, backlinks and rank tracking. Public pricing, a fraction of an enterprise suite, and better at that job.

  • Semrush

Widest surface area. SEO, paid, social and content in one subscription, with AI visibility tracking that has developed quickly. Best when several people share one tool.

  • SE Ranking

The value option, and it ships an MCP server too, so you can wire it into Claude without enterprise pricing. Under-considered.

  • Conductor

The successor by default. Worth evaluating if the answer to who will use this is a team rather than a person, and AEO is a board-level question.

Frequently asked questions

No. Conductor acquired it in February 2023 and merged it into the Conductor platform. searchmetrics.com now returns a 301 redirect to conductor.com. There is no standalone product, pricing page, trial or login.

Conductor announced the acquisition on 7 February 2023, saying it planned to combine both platforms into one within roughly eighteen months and to make Searchmetrics' Berlin office its European headquarters. That is what happened: the brand was retired and the domain repointed.

It sold on annual enterprise contracts, typically four to five figures a year depending on markets, keywords and modules. The figure is academic now, and any page quoting current Searchmetrics pricing is out of date.

There is no Searchmetrics login. If your organisation still has an active contract it was migrated to Conductor, and access runs through your Conductor account.

Ask Conductor support about your specific account. Data continuity across a platform merger varies by customer and by how the migration was handled, and it is not something to assume. If long-run trend data underpins your reporting, get the answer in writing before you plan around it.

It depends what you used it for. For the Visibility Index and the German market, Sistrix. For research and rank tracking on a normal budget, Ahrefs. For breadth across a marketing team, Semrush. For value plus agent access, SE Ranking. For enterprise continuity, Conductor itself.

Yes. Conductor runs an MCP server exposing its AEO and SEO intelligence to MCP-compatible clients including Claude and ChatGPT. Exact tool schemas, authentication and any plan gating are not published publicly, so confirm the specifics before making it a deciding factor.

If you are an enterprise team with multiple markets, a dedicated organic function and an AEO mandate, it is a credible platform and its European depth is real. If you are a team of one or two whose actual job is keyword research, it is the wrong shape and the wrong price.

Some links on this site are affiliate links and we may earn a commission. Conductor is not one of them — there is no commercial relationship with Conductor, which is worth stating plainly since it is the tool this page points to.
